Vegas: Night 2 - Odds & Ends (Part 2)

Cosmopolitan: The Vesper, The Ski Lodge, The Chandelier  After my wonderful dinner at Blue Ribbon, I was scheduled to meet another friend of mine for drinks.  Andrea is a fashion designer from New York, and she just happened to be in Vegas at the same time as I.  We met at the Casino level entrance to the Chandelier, the insanely glam, three level cocktail bar at the Cosmo.  She was waiting for her friend Shah, but we decided to grab a drink while waiting.  There was a line to get into the Chandelier, so I told her I had another fabulous bar to show her.  We walked through the Cosmo to Superfrico, which has a cute little speakeasy space called The Ski Lodge.  The hostess, whom I had met the previous night with my friend Rhiannon, remembered me and greeted me warmly.  She informed me, however, that the Ski Lodge was at capacity, but that we should check back in an hour or so.  Andrea and I then went downstairs to the Vesper, another cocktail l...

Vegas: Night 2 - Odds & Ends (Part 1)

Cosmopolitan: Blue Ribbon   My second night on this most recent Vegas jaunt took me back to the Cosmopolitan Casino & Hotel - first to meet up with my good friends Traci and her husband Georgi.  Their son Nik, a recent graduate, and his Godmother Pat were to join us.  We all met for dinner at Blue Ribbon, which describes itself as “part saloon, part oyster bar, part American eatery and part international culinary tour. I arrived early, so I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered a Casa Paloma - a tart, cooling mix of tequila, grapefruit juice, raspberry and fresh lime.  The grapefruit gave this bracing quaff a definite bite, but the sweetness of the raspberry balanced the cocktail beautifully.  Truthfully, I enjoyed it so much, I ordered a second one with dinner!
